Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s planned trip to the United Kingdom has hit a fresh hurdle. The couple is expected to travel to England next month for the launch of the 2027 Invictus Games.
But reports say they are now thinking again about bringing Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet because of security concerns. The latest update comes as the royal family is enjoying a vacation in Europe. Scroll down for more.
Why Prince Harry Is Rethinking The Royal Family’s U.K. Visit
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently on a holiday in Europe before their expected visit to the U.K. The trip is important because it would be Meghan’s first visit to Britain since September 2022, when she attended Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. It would also be the first time Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, have visited the country since then.
Reports also say Archie and Lilibet are expected to meet their grandfather, King Charles, during the visit. However, Harry is now reportedly reconsidering the trip because his family was not given taxpayer-funded police protection.
A source told The Guardian that security was “pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour.” The report says Harry is upset and worried about the safety of Meghan and their children.
Harry Is Looking For A Safe Way To Make The Trip Happen
According to the source, Harry is “distraught” because he believes his family will be “chased by paparazzi wherever they go from the moment they step off the plane.” Even so, he has not given up on the trip. And now, he is looking at other ways to make it happen safely.
“He’s looking at every option to try and get the family here safely and keep them safe when they’re on the ground,” the source said. “If he can find a way to do that, he will.”
The insider also explained why Harry is trying so hard to find a solution. “The hope is they can meet their grandfather, but there is no way that can happen if they are chased by paparazzi,” the source went on. “He won’t put his children through that.”
