Prince William has a stellar reputation when it comes to philanthropy and other social causes. Now, he’s focused on saving the planet with initiatives like The Earthshot Prize.
William’s dream project recently announced a big shake-up, as the current CEO, Hannah Jones, is retiring this summer. The lady has worked for four years in the organisation and is now ready to pass the baton. So, who’s replacing her? It’s CONTROVERSIAL!
Prince William: The Earthshot Prize Gets the New CEO!
Prince William is welcoming Jason Knauf, the ex-palace aide who will take Hannah’s place. Guess what? He’s stepping in right away and will work closely with Jones during the transition. Meanwhile, William didn’t forget to applaud Jones’ years of contribution to his cause and gave a shout-out on Instagram.
He said, “As the first CEO, Hannah has built The Prize into a world-class organization.” Additionally, the future King acknowledged how Jones fostered imagination and optimism through her work.
But he didn’t stop there—William also expressed his excitement about the next chapter with Knauf on board.
He wrote, “I look forward to working with Jason to chart the course for the next five years of the Earthshot Prize.” So, who is Jason Knauf? He was the communications secretary for Prince William and Prince Harry, plus their wives, Catherine and Meghan. Mind you, he has seen the royal controversies in person and was there before the notorious “office split.”
Furthermore, he became Kensington Palace’s communications director and then served as CEO of the Royal Foundation until 2021. Let us tell you a fun fact about Knauf! The communication expert has also been sitting on the board of trustees at Earthshot. So, this new CEO position is like a royal full-circle moment for him.
Jason Accused Meghan of Bullying
Interestingly, Jason filed a 2018 complaint against Meghan Markle, accusing her of bullying staff. He claimed that the Duchess fired two personal assistants and rattled a third. Prince Harry’s wife denied it, and her team even issued a statement regarding the issue. It revealed that Meghan was “saddened by this latest attack on her character.”
Nevertheless, it clarified that such dishonest claims won’t stop the royal Princess from “building compassion around the world.” How did the Buckingham Palace deal with it? They looked into the complaint and promised to redo HR policies. Meanwhile, The Earthshot Prize is still looking forward to its upcoming event.
This 10-year campaign, founded by the Prince of Wales in 2020, hands out $1.3 million to innovators tackling global problems. These awards are given in different categories, such as Clean Our Air and Revive Our Oceans. Brace yourselves for the new CEO!
