Carl Webster is about to land himself in serious trouble again in Corrie, and this time the consequences hit Debbie harder than ever. Just when she starts trying to move forward after prison, Carl’s actions drag her back into stress and confusion, leaving Ronnie Bailey furious over what he has done.
Carl Proves He Hasn’t Changed Despite Debbie’s Concern
In Corrie, Carl Webster shows very clearly that he has not changed at all. Even after Debbie Webster went to prison because of him, he continues to behave in the same selfish way. Before the Corriedale crash, Carl had already been stealing money from Debbie. He handled payments at the hotel, lied to customers about how much they owed, and kept the extra money for himself.
He knew exactly what he was doing and never showed any guilt. Things got worse after Debbie and Ronnie Bailey’s wedding. Carl got drunk and drove off with Debbie in the passenger seat. She kept asking him to slow down, but he ignored her.
His careless driving played a part in the crash, yet Debbie took the blame and went to prison for drink-driving. Anyone would expect Carl to change after something like that. Instead, he comes back and continues making bad choices, showing no respect for what Debbie sacrificed for him.
Debbie Is Left Shocked As Carl Takes Advantage Of Billy’s Death in Corrie
At the same time, Summer Spellman keeps trying to find out the truth about Billy Mayhew’s death. She refuses to give up, and that search for answers brings Carl back into the situation. Meanwhile, Debbie tries to focus on something positive.
She talks about going on a girls’ trip with Christina Boyd, Sally Metcalfe, Glenda Shuttleworth, and Bernie Winter. For a moment, things feel normal again. Then Bernie shares something that changes everything. She tells Debbie that Carl has offered to give Summer information about Billy’s death.
In return, he wants Billy’s life insurance money. Debbie is horrified when she hears this. She goes straight to Carl and asks him if it is true. Carl admits that he heard someone confess to Billy’s murder, but he refuses to say who it was. He makes it clear that he will only speak if he gets something in return.
Debbie cannot believe what she is hearing. She feels disgusted and angry, and she throws Carl out of her flat without thinking twice. After the argument, Debbie struggles to cope. She sits staring into space, clearly shaken by everything that just happened. The stress of the situation brings on another one of her episodes.
Ryan Connor notices straight away that something is wrong. He worries about Debbie and later tells Ronnie everything. He explains how Carl’s actions and the argument affected her badly. Ryan makes it clear that Carl has made Debbie’s condition worse.
Ronnie listens and grows angrier with every word. He has stood by Debbie through prison and everything that followed. Now he sees that Carl is still causing harm and not taking any responsibility. This time, Ronnie is not going to stay calm. Carl may soon have to face the consequences of pushing things too far. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Corrie spoilers.
