Villain Rowan Cunlifee (Emrhys Cooper) is leaving Corrie as the actor confirms his departure from the UK. Viewers must recall how the leader of the cult, The Institute, manipulated Leanne Battersby. It all started when she and her son Simon attended one of his self-help classes.
With time, she grew distant from her family, including her sister Toyah and fiancé Nick. They were horrified when she started talking to an AI avatar of her deceased son Oliver, all because of Rowan’s influence. Very recently, Leanne even tried to recruit Amy Barlow into the cult.
The 39-year-old actor confirmed his exit by sharing a fantastic sunset video on Instagram, showing himself chilling in a fancy pool in Palm Springs. He captioned it, “So good to be home @palmsprings_casaderosa.” However, back in Weatherfield, there’s still exciting stuff coming from the star before he wraps up.
Emrhys had previously shared that fans will soon get more details about Rowan’s backstory. According to The Metro, he mentioned that there had already been many heated arguments between Nick, Toyah, and Rowan, with Rowan being accustomed to people being wary of The Institute.
The soap star hinted, “We are going to learn more about his chequered past.” He suggested that Rowan, being a master manipulator, could use his past experiences to his advantage. Additionally, the soap actor will return to our screens and UK star in a production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
