Viewers of Coronation Street have followed Sally Metcalfe through every high and low, watching her grow, face challenges, and rebuild her life time and again. At the same time, behind the character, Sally Dynevor has been living a journey that is just as meaningful. In her recent conversation with Prima magazine, she reflected on where it all began, how things changed over the years, and the personal moments that left a lasting impact on her life.
Sally Never Expected To Stay So Long in Coronation Street
Sally Dynevor shared that she never imagined staying on the show for decades. In fact, she admitted she never thought in a million years that she would still be part of it after 40 years.
Her journey began on a difficult note. She went through two failed auditions before finally securing the role on her third attempt.

At just 22, she stepped into the role of Sally Seddon. Soon after, her first scene aired in 1986 and quickly became memorable, as Kevin Webster splashed her while she rushed to a job interview.
Initially, the role was meant to last only six episodes. However, things gradually changed. As time went on, the character grew in importance, and audiences began to connect deeply with Sally, turning her into one of the most loved figures on the show.
Real Life And The Soap Became One For Sally
Over the years, viewers stayed connected to Sally’s story as it reflected many real-life experiences. Her relationship with Kevin Webster went through several ups and downs, which kept audiences invested. Later, her journey as a mother to Rosie and Sophie became a central part of her life on screen. As time passed, she found happiness again when she built a life with Tim.

Each phase of her story felt relatable, which made her character even more special to viewers. Then, in 2009, things took a deeply personal turn. At that time, her character was diagnosed with breast cancer. Around the same period, Sally Dynevor received the same diagnosis in real life. This made the situation incredibly difficult for her to handle, as her personal life and her role became closely connected.
Over time, Sally has grown alongside her character, which makes her connection to the role even stronger. Even after reaching such an important milestone, she has no plans to step away anytime soon. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
