Christina Boyd’s panicked lie to the police in Coronation Street creates serious trouble for George Shuttleworth, but Summer Spellman may end up facing the worst fallout. Theo Silverton’s murder investigation already has several Weatherfield residents under pressure, and George’s next move leaves Summer terrified that the police may arrest her before she can defend herself.
George And Christina Discover Summer’s Damning Journal Page
Theo Silverton’s death has already placed Todd Grimshaw and his loved ones under police scrutiny. George Shuttleworth and Christina Boyd have also landed on the suspect list because George knew how badly Theo had abused Todd and had every reason to want him gone.
George then accidentally knocks over Summer Spellman’s bag and finds a page from her journal. The page describes putting a gun to Theo’s head, leaving George and Christina deeply concerned. Summer hated Theo after he left her adoptive dad, Billy Mayhew, to die in a fiery car crash, so the writing makes her look even more suspicious.
The timing becomes even worse when Kit Green spots a crucial detail in Lisa Connor-Swain’s wedding photos that could implicate Summer in Theo’s murder. Lisa later grills Summer at the police station, and George questions her again after she returns to the Cobbles. A flashback then reveals what George saw that night.
Summer reacts furiously to George’s suspicions and suggests he could be the one responsible for Theo’s murder instead. Her fear grows after she catches Asha Alahan gossiping with Nina Lucas about her, and Gary Windass steps in to take her to the yard for a brew.
Christina’s Lie Pushes Summer Toward A Desperate Escape
Christina’s situation worsens when the police catch her out in a lie. Panic takes over, and she advises George to tell Lisa what he saw before the investigation turns against them.
George later tells Christina that he has spoken to the police about Summer’s lies. Christina then says it will only be a matter of time before the police come after her, and Summer overhears the conversation before slipping out of the door.
Todd Grimshaw soon bumps into Summer carrying a hold-all. Summer explains that she fears the police will arrest her for Theo’s murder, so she has contacted her university in the States and plans to fly to America that afternoon.
Christina’s false statement and George’s decision to speak up leave Summer in a desperate position. The police are closing in, and Summer now seems ready to leave Weatherfield behind before the murder investigation catches up with her.
