Fans who wanted to see Mel Owen actress Tamzin Outhwaite back in EastEnders will get their hearts broken. The star has officially ‘rejected’ a return to the BBC soap seven years after her exit. According to her, viewers have already seen the character’s body inside a body bag.

The beloved actress said her iconic character, Mel Owen will not return from the dead. We have often seen the television tradition of deceased residents miraculously returning to Albert Square after faking their passings. However, Tamzin has confirmed that a future comeback is entirely out of the question.

She thinks that a surprise revival narrative functionally impossible. The actress recently appeared on Lorraine earlier this week. And here’s where she directly addressed the constant speculation regarding a potential return to the soap. 

Tamzin said, “I don’t think Mel can come back. We saw the body in the  bag and the zip goes over her face so I don’t think that’s a possibility.” Later, the daytime presenter playfully suggested utilising the trope of a previously unmentioned sibling. That’s when Tamzin joined in the joke saying, “I actually have thought about her having an evil twin. Or even just a nicer twin, or a mentally stable twin would be good.”

Tamzin Focuses On An Intense West End Theatre Production

The memorable character was written out years ago. Now, Tamzin is currently preparing to lead a major revival of Abigail’s Party. It’s a production heading to the West End after touring with former Hollyoaks cast member Omar Malik.

Speaking about the play, she said, “It’s excruciating but wonderful. The star also called her character ‘ grotesque and despicable someone who treats other people like picking the legs off a spider with a smile on her face and all under the guise of manners.”

Well, we can say that Tazin is highly enthusiastic about the upcoming theatrical run. And praising the creative depth of the material, she said, “I think it’s a ‘state of the nation’ play, and he’s such a brilliant writer, Mike Leigh.”
