But now it seems like Swifties have finally connected the dots well. Recently, Taylor Swift liked a fan’s speculation about the first track of her 11th studio album, Fortnight. The video creator known as pattypopculture, Patty Eminger, shared a reel on Instagram sharing his thoughts on Taylor Swift’s Fortnight.
In that reel, the video creator said that as soon as he started listening to the song, he realized the first two lines of the track were actually reference lyrics to Swift’s previous album, Midnight.
He added the lyrics in Fortnight, which sounded pretty similar to those in Hits Different, which was the last track of Midnights’s Target Exclusive version and Til Dawn Edition. Not only this, but the song also appeared as an extension to Hits Different.
Well, in her previous track, Hits Different, Taylor Swift sings, “I heard your key turn in the door down the hallway/ Is that your key in the door/ Or have they come to take me away?” While she appeared to be asking someone to take her away with him in the song, her Fortnight version was a bit different.
In her latest track, she sings, “I was supposed to be sent away/ But they forgot to come and get me.” It sounds like she is talking to the same person and telling him she has waited for him.
While this killer theory took the fans by storm, Taylor Swift made it sound more genuine. She liked the reel, making it obvious that her fans were right. Fortnight referred to her previous track, Hits Different, inspired by her relationship with Joe Alwyn.
As we have talked before, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department refers to her exes, Joe, Matty Healy, and her current boyfriend, Travis Kelce. So, it makes sense that Taylor dedicated this track to her relationship with Joe, where she kept waiting for him to come and fix things between them.
However, it never happened. Although the reason behind their split remained unclear, Swift has now moved on. She’s currently dating NFL tight-end player Travis Kelce and has been spotted together on several occasions.
