Taylor Swift knows how to enchant the audience even with the breakup song. There’s no denying that she’s a mastermind. Thus, Swift decided to make July 9 special by performing a mashup of the Red track “Sad Beautiful Tragic” and the Speak Now track “Last Kiss” during her acoustic set of the Eras Tour in Zurich. “Last Kiss” holds a sentiment as it is purely dedicated to her teenage love story with Joe Jonas, and she mentions the summer date in the track.
Swift sings, “I do recall now the smell of the rain, fresh on the pavement, I ran off the plane/ That July 9, the beat of your heart/ It jumps through your shirt, I can still feel your arms.” While “Last Kiss” blended perfectly well with “Sad Beautiful Tragic,” both tracks remind us of the relationships that didn’t work out. Though the track focuses more on broken relationships, it also holds a special place in Taylor Swift’s life because it’s the 13th track on Speak Now.
No. 13 is her favorite number, and coincidently, Swift performed the track on her 113th Eras Tour show in Zurich. That’s why we called her a mastermind. Taylor Swift said in a speech during her performance, “I just thought since [13 is] my favorite number, I’d do some of my” favorite tracks for this acoustic section.
Thus, to surprise the audience, the Blank Space singer performed another mashup of 1989’s “All You Had to Do Was Stay” and Evermore’s “Right Where You Left Me.” No doubt, Swift dedicated the day to her breakup tracks, perhaps dedicating to Jonas. Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift broke up over a phone call, and Swift did talk about the incident on The Ellen Degeneres Show. The singer shared her remorse through her “mouthy” comments.
However, Swift is doing great and extremely happy with her relationship with NFL star player Travis Kelce. While Swift and Jones had their fair share of ups and downs, the former couple seemed to have reconciled. That’s because, in a 2019 interview, Swift shared that she had moved on and didn’t want to support her then-mouthy comments.
As for Joe Jonas, he believed that it was nice of Taylor Swift to walk back on her previous remarks. The singer also shared that they were younger and had moved on. In fact, Joe Jonas also added that he and Taylor Swift are good friends now. In his June 2022 World Tour, Jonas also changed the lyrics of “Much Better.” He sang, “Now I’m cool with superstars/ and the teardrops on her guitar,” while the previous lyrics were “done with superstars.”
Since Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift are on better terms, the mashup holds no grudges at all. This is all for now. Stay with Soap Opera Daily for more such updates.
