The Young and the Restless fans are in for a rollercoaster ride as Adam Newman’s past resurfaces in the most dramatic way possible. Mark Grossman, the actor behind Adam, recently opened up about his character’s return to the dangerous streets of Las Vegas.
The new storyline promises to shake things up, with Adam heading to Sin City alongside Nick (Joshua Morrow) to hunt down Matt Clark (Roger Howarth). But what could this mean for Adam’s future? Is he headed back to his dark side?
A Past Full of Secrets and Lies
When Adam first resurfaced as “Spider” in Las Vegas, no one knew what to expect. Adam had been presumed dead after a deadly explosion, only to emerge years later with no memory of his former life. His past, especially his connection with the mysterious Riza (Tina Sasciani), remained a big question mark.
Grossman says he’s excited about what this new arc could reveal, particularly about Adam’s turbulent relationship with Riza and the skeletons that may come tumbling out. “There’s so much we don’t know about what happened when Adam was Spider,” Grossman shares. “It’s going to be thrilling to explore what happened during that time.”
The Young and the Restless: Walking the Line Between Light and Dark
Grossman also hints that Adam’s life with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and their son Connor (Judah Mackey) has placed him in a good spot, but the upcoming mission could force him to revisit his darker impulses. “It’s exciting for me as an actor,” he says, referring to Adam’s internal struggle.
“There’s always drama in Adam’s life, especially when he faces the temptation of his past. Will he slip back into old habits to get what he wants?” Grossman teases. This journey promises a lot of tension as Adam grapples with the thin line between redemption and relapse.
The Return of Riza, Old Flames and New Tensions
When Adam reunites with Riza, sparks will fly. “It’s complicated,” Grossman admits. “Adam and Riza had a transactional relationship, but there was something there.” Fans can expect plenty of fireworks when Riza pulls a gun on Adam in one of the upcoming episodes, signaling just how deep their past runs. Grossman suggests that Adam’s charm might not be enough to win her trust again. “He’s going to have to work hard to convince her,” he reveals.
As if navigating his emotional struggles wasn’t enough, Adam will need to use his sharp poker skills to outsmart Riza and get the information he needs. “It’s a gamble for Adam,” Grossman explains. “He’s playing a role, trying to convince Riza that he’s on her side. But we all know Adam is always playing the long game.”
