Thursday in Genoa City delivered the kind of episode that hits from every direction at once. The Young and The Restless Recap for May 14, 2026 captured Diane spiraling through a nightmare so vivid she woke up screaming.
Across town, Phyllis sat Matt Clark in a Club suite and marched straight to the Newman ranch with the most dangerous bargaining chip in Genoa City. And somewhere in the middle of it all, Nick Newman broke down in his father’s arms and admitted what everyone already feared.
Diane’s Nightmare Shatters Her in Her Sleep
Diane spent Thursday evening in her Club suite trying to hold herself together. She picked up her phone, looked at a wedding photo and then called Jack, leaving a voicemail. She was ready to talk. Ready to figure out how to move forward. She set her phone down and fell asleep on the sofa, right into the worst possible version of what she feared most.

In the nightmare, Diane walked into the Abbott mansion and found Patty already living there. Jack told her he had moved on. Patty gloated, circling with that familiar unhinged energy. Then came the gut punch. Patty told Diane that her baby had not miscarried. Jack’s long-lost daughter was alive. As Patty and Jack told her together that their love was forever, Jack looked Diane in the eye and said goodbye. She jolted awake in her suite, screaming his name into an empty room.
The Young and The Restless Recap: Jack Pulls Patty Into His Revenge Plan
While Diane slept through her worst fears, Jack was very much awake and very much plotting. He found Patty at Society’s bar and sat down beside her. Patty was skeptical at first, expecting judgment. Jack surprised her. He told her he was prepared to accept that she had been trying to change. Then he got to the real reason he was there.

He pushed her to admit that Victor paid her to be on that yacht. She did. He pushed further and got her to concede that the spiked whiskey may have been Victor’s doing, not hers. Patty still preferred to believe it was chemistry, but she could not rule it out. Jack made his pitch directly. He wanted revenge, and he wanted her help getting it. If Victor lost Nikki, it would bring him to his knees. Patty asked what was in it for her. Jack told her plainly that helping him could change the way he looked at her entirely.
Phyllis Parks Matt and Goes Straight to Victor
Earlier in the evening, Phyllis had been busy with a very different kind of problem. She brought Matt Clark into a GCAC suite she had booked under her own name and got him settled in. Matt, cheerful and clueless, looked around the room and wondered aloud whether he was loaded or had a wife. He suggested going for a walk. Phyllis shut that down immediately. He floated the idea of making amends with the Newmans. She shut that down even faster.

She promised him breakfast in the morning and left him alone. Back in the room, Matt stared at his own reflection and studied the scratch on his head. Then a flash came. Nick attacking him in the park. Matt gasped and reached for the memory, but it slipped away. “Why can’t I remember anything?” he asked the mirror. Downstairs, Phyllis had already run into Michael and told him she had a deal worth making. When she mentioned Matt’s name, Michael knew this might actually work.
The Young and The Restless Recap: Nick Breaks Down and Victor Draws the Line
At the Newman ranch, Victor had summoned Nick after hearing from Adam about the murder plan. Nick arrived agitated and pacing, still insisting he could handle a controlled self-defense setup with Burrow as a witness.
Victor was not interested in the details. He looked at his son, sweating and barely holding it together, and said what nobody else had said out loud yet. “Son, you’re using drugs.” Nick denied it. Victor did not argue. He just held his ground.
Nick cracked. He told his father he felt like he was failing everyone and could not keep going like this. Victor pulled him into a hug. It was the episode’s most quietly devastating moment. Victor promised that Matt Clark would face consequences, and he meant it. Then his phone pinged.

Phyllis and Michael had arrived. Nick stayed in the room and leaned in as Michael opened with the question of what Matt Clark would be worth to Victor. Phyllis announced she had him on ice. All Victor had to do was get Christine to drop the charges. Victor smiled and raised the stakes. He wanted Newman Enterprises back too. “Take it or leave it.”
Thursday ended with Victor holding every card at that ranch table and Diane waking up to a name she may not be ready to let go of. The Young and The Restless Recap for May 14, 2026 closes on a negotiation nobody has agreed to yet and a revenge plan that just recruited the most unpredictable woman in Genoa City. Where this lands next is anybody’s guess, and Soap Opera Daily will have every answer the moment Genoa City makes its move.
