The latest Coronation Street spoilers suggest trouble for David Platt as he makes new enemies, the Radcliffe brothers. Kit recently warned David of this and said he had climbed Matty and Logan’s hit list. As this storyline unfolds, the creators of the show definitely wanted David to have a “terrified” reaction whenever he encounters the duo. But we know how he is – and it turns out Jack thinks the same – and refused the creators.
Storyline In a Brief
Just to refresh your memory, David’s problem with the Radcliffe brothers concerns Damon Hay’s missing money plot. We last saw Logan break into Sarah’s flat, according to Harvey’s instructions, to look for Damon’s cash stash. This week, Matty and Logan will grow suspicious of David and start asking him questions, as they feel he has something to hide. When they can’t spot him anywhere, they visit David’s gran, Audrey Roberts, at the local salon. Were they trying to blackmail David?
In this scene, the creators wanted him to have an expression where he looks “terrified.” But Jack didn’t go for the script exactly – he shared it with Digital Spy, saying, “They don’t look that threatening. In all the scripts, it’s like: ‘David looks terrified.’ I’m like: ‘But I’m not gonna look terrified.’ So I just do it as though they’re like a fart that won’t go away! Or like the Home Alone baddies. So I’m just treating them like that. They’re getting on my tits. They’re there threatening me and I’m like: ‘Yeah, alright’.”
How The Storyline Unfolds
It was revealed that David was, after all, the culprit who stole Damon’s money. Since October, he has been seeking help and has finally confided in Jesse Chadwick, Gail’s new fiancé, to cover up his secret. After a couple of months, when David is already knee-deep in problems regarding his marital life, this problem has returned to haunt him. Eventually, Audrey finds out and warns Gail about what’s going on behind her back.
With the hidden secret finally revealed, will this somehow affect Gail and Jesse’s relationship? Even on their farewell party day, we see David and Jesse in full-on panic mode. Now that Audrey has already informed Gail, we don’t know if this will change her decision regarding the marriage.
