Though they thought that they would just have a sexual relationship, so that they could add fun to their busy lives. However, they soon started loving each other.
Joe was bemused as she couldn’t decide whether to start a proper relationship with Joe or mend her marriage with Billy. However, she decided to choose Joe. Dawn disclosed her feelings regarding their relationship, but didn’t tell him about his secret affair. This made Dawn suspicious as he thought his wife had been having an affair.
His doubts were raised when Mack dropped a clue that Dawn was in a secret relationship with Ross Barton. When Billy checked Dawn’s phone, he realised that Dawn had changed the phone’s password. He got more suspicious, but the situation aggravated when Joe told him that Dawn was sleeping with Ross.

He tried to explain everything to Clemmie, but she remained distant. Not wanting to upset his children, Billy decided to leave Home Farm. He packed a few bags and left. Joe kept looking at him.
When Billy left, Joe told Dawn that now they won’t have to hide their relationship for long, as soon as they would be able to tell everyone about them. However, Dawn told Joe that they would have to keep their affair a secret, as if Billy finds out, he would kill Joe.
