The recent Emmerdale spoilers have already confirmed some upcoming deaths in the soap. Now, with a major character shot dead, we can finally connect the dots. While the teaser showed us a freshly dug grave and a body being dropped into the river—we can now confirm at least one of the victims.
While all the characters of the soap are dear to us, and we love to see them on screen—there’s one character who has been making our skin crawl. From attempting physical abuse on a child to trying to break off her own daughter’s marriage—this character did it all to make her life a living hell. Yes, you guessed it right, we are talking about none other than Anthony Fox Miligan.
Just to remind you once again—here’s a glimpse of how Anthony has almost ruined his daughter’s life. As per Emmerdale Spoilers, First, Ruby had to send her daughter off to a boarding school to keep her safe from Anthony—which practically ruined the mother-daughter relationship. Next, Anthony tried to start a fight with Caleb regarding his past affair that affected Ruby’s marriage. And last but not least, he even tried to blackmail Ruby when he figured out about her one-night stand with Cain.
Anthony Is Shot?
With Anthony’s continuous presence and torment—it was eventually becoming tough for Ruby to gulp it all alone, and she ultimately confided in Chas about her childhood trauma and her confusion regarding Steph’s paternity. Emmerdale Spoilers say that though Ruby took a DNA test and planned to keep the results secret from Steph, Caleb discovered it but carried on the pretence with his wife to shield Steph.
While the couple is trying to deal with their shocking secret over the week, Anthony is up to tutor Angelica King unsupervised. Later, when Chas overhears Nicola King leaving Angelica alone with Anthony, she can’t help but freak out. She finally confesses to Nicola that Angel is safe around him—and sends her off to home instantly. Accusing him of being a threat to children—Nicola instructs Anthony to leave.
Instead of being embarrassed about his intentions, he tries to get back at Nicola, but fortunately, Laurel arrives and whacks him over the head with a candlestick. Though he initially crashes to the ground unconscious, and Laurel considers him to be dead, he isn’t as of yet. Elsewhere, seeing Chas emotional in the pub’s back room, Cain thinks she has probably come to know about his one-night stand with Ruby—but he will be stunned to know Ruby’s truth.
Later, Steph is anxious as Anthony doesn’t show up for their meeting, and there are no updates from him as well. Across the town, Aaron Dingle witnesses Anthony having a strange interaction with Ruby while Caleb pulls up his car and asks Anthony to get in. Moments after this, a gunshot is heard, and Anthony is found dead. We wouldn’t be shocked to see someone dropping Anthony’s body into the river—but will the murderer see one of Anthony’s teeth lying on the floor of the depot? Or will that one tooth lead the murderer to the end?
Who Could Be the Murderer?
For Anthony, the list of suspects is long—no matter how charming he tried to be, he had made quite some enemies in the village. We have a few names to drop who have real motives to kill him off.
Ruby and Caleb
First, the obvious—Ruby and Caleb Milligan. Ruby is already protective of her daughter and earlier, sent her off to boarding school to save her from Anthony. Can she do it again? Maybe she decided to end the threat to her daughter’s life once and for all by killing off her father. It could be Caleb, too, as he will finally get his hands on the DNA results this week.
Though the couple keeps it a secret from Steph and decides to put up a pretence—we will later see him asking Anthony to get into his car on the death day. He can be mad at him for what he did to Ruby and how he influenced Steph. But here’s something that we’d love to see—if Caleb and Ruby join hands and plot this out together. What do you think?
Stephanie Dingle
The next suspect on our list is Steph—We know this might seem unrealistic, but it is indeed a possibility. Ruby and Caleb have been doing everything to shield Steph. But could it be possible that she somehow got her hands on the DNA results or maybe overheard something—that made her lash out at him?
Nicola King
We can’t let Nicola King slip off the list since she is one of Anthony’s most recent enemies. It was on Anthony’s death day that she got to know about his heinous past from Chas and how he is a threat to children and saved her daughter Angel. Though Anthony tries to get back at her, Laurel ultimately saves her.
Laurel Thomas
Before Anthony attacks Nicola, Anthony takes shelter on Laurel’s sofa to get over the hangover. Later, Laurel is the one to thump Anthony with a candlestick to save Nicola, but that only makes him unconscious. However, the death news takes a toll on her; she feels guilty for making him unconscious and seeks religious guidance. Does the candlestick blow have anything to do with Anthony’s death?
Angelica King
We can’t leave out little Angel from our list because she already has a record of killing Heath Hope—though it wasn’t intentional. But it won’t be impossible to assume that when Anthony tried to assault her, she probably got desperate and later shot him dead to take revenge.
Cain Dingle
Cain was never fond of Anthony. Even during his recent meet-up with Caleb, when he shared about Anthony’s deteriorating health due to cancer—Cain was not at all sympathetic. Besides, Ruby also told Caim how her father was blackmailing her with their secret. Now, he also knows what Anthony did to Ruby as a teenager, so maybe he tried to shut him up once and for all.
Chas Dingle
Chas has been horrified to know about Ruby’s childhood trauma—maybe it just stirred up her past when her son, Aaron, had to face something similar from his own father. Plus she also has PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), due to which she once used a weapon on Diane Sudgen. Maybe when she saw Anthony’s predatory intentions, she took things into her own hands.
Aaron Dingle
As mentioned above, Aaron has been a target of physical abuse by his own father. So, what Anthony did to Ruby is already a sensitive issue for him. Moreover, he witnessed the conversation between Anthony and Ruby. And, given his track record of violence, it’s very much possible for him to get angry and kill Anthony off.
As Emmerdale spoilers confirm—the upcoming weeks are going to heat up. But there’s one relief that the evil Anthony is finally dead. Maybe there will be peace in Ruby’s life. But the question still hangs—who is Anthony’s murderer? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for what will happen next.
