Emmerdale fans, cast, crew, and the Dingle family is getting ready to bid their final goodbye to Zak Dingle as they lay him to rest on the soap forever. Zak’s funeral episode will also serve as a homage to his portrayer – actor Steve Halliwell. He had essayed the character since 1993. However, when the soap legend breathed his last at the age of 77, the makers decided to honor him by putting his character to rest on the soap with a grand send-off.
In a recent chat with the media, actor Jeff Hordley, who plays Zak’s son Cain Dingle, revealed that it is going to be a very emotional episode. He told Metro that Zak sent Cain back home from Scotland, saying everything was going to be fine. Furthermore, he promised not to do too much, and just rest, as per the doctor’s orders.
“I think that’s why it’s so immediate for Cain, and so shocking – it’s like seeing someone in the morning, isn’t it? And then in the afternoon, they’re gone,” Jeff explained. The Cain actor pointed out that the tribute episode will not only be emotional but also very special. It has been written in such a way that it will express exactly how important Zak has been as a character, and Steve Halliwill as a character.
Furthermore, Jeff explained that in the episode, Cain Dingle goes to almost every member of the family to pass the news, and they all react in varying degrees to the unexpected news of Zak’s passing. “t was good, you know? It was a nice little piece,” the actor asserted. After the funeral, there is going to be special episode that features Cain, Sam, and Belle.
