Kate Middleton and Prince William have finally ended years of speculation about Prince George’s future education.

After reportedly weighing several options and debating the decision for a long time, the royal couple has now confirmed where their eldest son will continue his studies from September.  Scroll down for more information.

Prince George’s Next Chapter Has Finally Been Decided

After years of uncertainty, Kensington Palace confirmed on June 16 that Prince George will attend Eton College from September. The prestigious all-boys boarding school has strong ties to the royal family and was also attended by Prince William and Prince Harry during their school years.

Royal aides confirmed the decision in a statement shared through People, saying, “Kensington Palace can confirm that Prince George will attend Eton College from this September.” The move means the 12-year-old future king will follow a well-established royal tradition when he begins secondary school later this year.

The announcement comes after reports suggested that William and Kate had different views on George’s future education.

While Prince William was believed to favor Eton, Kate reportedly considered other options, including her former school, Marlborough College, and other co-educational institutions.

Why The School Choice Took So Long

One of the key reasons behind the lengthy decision-making process was Kate Middleton’s wish to keep her children together. Royal expert Katie Nicholl previously explained Kate’s perspective, telling The Mirror, “Kate’s preference is for George to be at a co-education school, so he can be with his siblings, which is what Kate experienced at Marlborough with her sister, Pippa, and brother, James.”

At present, George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis all attend Lambrook School near the family’s Windsor home. The arrangement has allowed the siblings to study together while remaining close to their parents at Forest Lodge.

However, recent reports suggested the family had gradually moved closer to choosing Eton. Royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths told Vanity Fair earlier this month, “Eton was always the obvious choice for George. But Catherine has changed her mind many times and I’m told she’s ‘been like a yo-yo.’ This is to her credit. She knows how important it is to get the decision right for the future king.”

The fact that Eton is only about a 15-minute drive from the family home reportedly helped make the decision easier. The education discussions within the Wales family may not stop with George. Reports suggest Kate and William are also reviewing future schooling options for Princess Charlotte, who is currently 10 years old. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Royal news and updates.
